WHO WE ARE
Dr. Jaan Reitav has practiced Clinical and Health Psychology for over 30 years, primarily in Behavioral Sleep Medicine. Dr. Reitav is a Professor of Clinical Diagnosis at CMCC and has been actively engaged in teaching health professionals about treatment of sleep disorders. He has published chapters for health professionals on assessing and treating the sleep problems of older patients and cardiac patients.
For over a decade Dr. Reitav has been developing a group program that integrates Stress Management Training program with CBT for insomnia. This next generation sleep treatment targets modulating the Autonomic Nervous System by enhancing CBT for insomnia interventions with sequenced mind-body stress-reduction skills training. The result is a unique and effective group based sleep treatment that promotes an internal state of NeuroRelaxation for improved sleep, physical health, learning and better relationships.
Dr. Reitav was a contributing author to the Third Edition of the Canadian Guidelines for Cardiac Rehabilitation (2009), which set standards for managing Psychological and Behavioral problems in recovering heart patients. These Guidelines were the first by a national health organization to advocate routine screening and treatment for sleep disorders in medical populations.
